About Adin

Adin, a name that stands for refinement
Since 1985, Adin Fine Antique Jewellery has been a guardian of history and craftsmanship in the heart of Antwerp. The name Adin, taken from an ancient biblical word meaning “noble” or “refined”, reflects our enduring devotion to authenticity, quality and beauty.
An unexpected beginning
The story of Adin is inseparable from its founder, Elkan Wijnberg. Trained as a goldsmith in Schoonhoven in the Netherlands, and born to parents who sold waffles at local markets, Elkan’s path into the world of jewellery was anything but ordinary. His fascination began early, when he enamelled his first jewel at the age of eight, and it grew into a lifelong dedication to the beauty and history of antique jewels.
From Schoonhoven to Antwerp
In the early 1980s, Elkan moved from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to Antwerp, Belgium, a city whose heartbeat has long been the sparkle of gemstones and the rhythm of craftsmanship. There, in a small shop at Vestingstraat 12 (in the diamond district), he laid the foundation for what would become Adin. By the mid 1980s, the business had moved to Vestingstraat 16, and in 1985 the name Adin was formally adopted, marking the beginning of a journey that would blend scholarship, artistry and innovation.
More than trade: a mission
From its earliest days, Adin’s mission has gone beyond trading in beauty. Every jewel is studied, understood and, where needed, lovingly restored, never altered but always respected. Through decades of dedicated study and documentation, Adin has built one of the most comprehensive jewellery libraries in Europe and developed an in-house system that safeguards the knowledge behind every piece.
