A gemstone that is carved or engraved to depict a figure or figures, a monogram or inscription, being, if incised, an intaglio or, if in relief, a cameo. Such pieces when incised are usually about2,5 cm wide but those in relief are usually twice as wide and even up to 25 cm wide.
