A metallic or stone body that has fallen to earth from outer space as a fragment from a meteor. They usually show a pitted surface with a fused crust, due to the intense heat created by the rapidtravel through the atmosphere. Pieces of meteorites have been worn for centuries as jewelry, usually as a talisman. In recent years they have been incorporated in jewelry made by Gilbert Albert.
