A device placed inside the shank of a loose-fitting finger ring to make it fit securely. It is a narrow strip made of a hard, springy metal, silver or a gold alloy.There are two types:The strip is soldered at one end to the inside of the shank, the balance being an unattached spring curve.The strip has lugs at each end, which are pressed over the edge of the shank.
